Jamaican born Barrington Levy burst upon the scene in the late 1970s, a pint-sized youth with a signature voice who, along with producer Henry “Junjo” Lawes and the Roots Radics band, led in the early dancehall era of reggae, changing the sound and tone of the music forever. Throughout the early 80s, Barrington was one of the most prolific artists in the game before moving to the United Kingdom where he joined forces with producer Jah Screw. With Screw, Levy would record many of the timeless hits that made him one of the most acclaimed artists to ever materialize from the Jamaican islands.
"This song is for those people who have not crumbled under defeat."
On March 24, 2017, the legendary Grammy nominated reggae artist gave us a sneak peak into his upcoming, highly anticipated album by unveiling an impressive new single titled ”G.S.O.A.T.” A new video filmed near Levy’s hometown was also premiered directed by Donovan Howard with guest appearances by Sly and Robbie, Jah Screw and George Phang.
"We all have faced some difficult times in our lives. This song is for those people who have not crumbled under defeat. This song celebrates those who have the strength to carry on and be strong," says Levy.
”G.S.O.A.T” is nothing short of a bass-fueled animal – vicious and tearing through silence with authority and emotional intensity. The track is unique enough to be engaging while familiar enough to feel grounded. Levy’s melodies are fearless and each verse feels properly motivated by the constant onslaught of lyrical prowess.
Be on the lookout for Barrington Levy’s upcoming album Survivor, which follows his 2015 Grammy Nominated acoustic project, Acousticalevy. Survivor will feature gripping collaborations by Grammy winning artist Damian “Jr. Gong” Marley, and the lovers rock bonafide star, Beres Hammond and many more.
